Unilin Panels will upgrade its chipper feeding line at the Vielsalm mill in Belgium during the annual shutdown in the third quarter of 2025. The upgrade includes the installation of a new infeed chute, open top spout, durable chipper hood, couplings, and bearing assemblies. This initiative addresses lifecycle challenges, enhancing chip quality and production capacity while ensuring safe operations.
The current feeding line, nearing the end of its lifecycle, has caused chip quality variations and increased risks from mechanical wear. The new system aims to improve chip consistency and extend the woodyard’s operational lifespan. Valmet, responsible for the delivery and installation, confirmed the order as part of its fourth-quarter 2024 bookings, with the value undisclosed.
Unilin Panels produces innovative wood panel solutions for the construction and interior sectors. The Vielsalm production unit specializes in MDF for domestic and international markets. The company is part of the Unilin Group.
