The Producer Price Index (PPI) for softwood lumber decreased by 5% in January 2025, following a 1% decline over the previous month. Hardwood lumber prices increased by 1% in January, up from a 0.5% rise in December, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Millwork prices dropped by 0.2% in January, reversing a 0.2% increase in December. Plywood prices saw a slight 0.1% rise, following a 0.4% decrease in the previous month. The overall PPI for final demand, seasonally adjusted, increased by 0.4% in January, slightly lower than the 0.5% increase recorded in December.
