Iivari Mononen Group has bought the entire share capital of the Irish PDM Timber Treatment Ltd and agreed to buy the entire share capital of the English Calders & Grandidge Ltd both owned by the French Saint-Gobain S.A.

Saint-Gobain has signed a binding agreement for the sale of its treated timber products (utility poles, fencing and railway sleepers) manufacturing brands: PDM in Ireland and Calders & Grandidge in the UK – to the Iivari Mononen Group.

The divested assets, comprising two business units in Ireland and the UK, generated revenues of Euro 50 million in 2023 and employ 80 people.

The divestment of PDM completed on March, 1, and the sale of Calders & Grandidge is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, subject to competition authority clearance.

PDM Timber Treatment Ltd’s operations in Kilteel, near Dublin and, post-completion, Calders & Grandidge Ltd’s in Boston, East England, will continue in the current market as before.

Saint-Gobain designs, manufactures and distributes materials and services for the construction and industrial markets.
