SCA begins production in new Hungary plant
BUDAPEST, Sept. 27, 2001 (Reuters) - The Hungarian unit of Swedish pulp and paper group Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget on Thursday began production at a 1.5 billion forint ($5.36 million) packaging plant in Hungary, it said in a statement.
The plant, located about 50 kilometres east of Budapest, brought SCA's total investments to 3.5 billion forints in Hungary in the past five years. SCA, which produces absorbent hygiene products, packaging materials and newsprint, also has plants in Sarvar and Tatabanya, both in the west of Hungary.
The Hungarian unit, SCA Packaging Hungary Kft, generated sales of 3.3 billion forints in 2000. In the first half of 2001 it employed about 120 people. At 1513/1313 GMT SCA shares traded at 223.50 Swedish crowns, up 1.00.
