New construction of wooden houses in Japan decreased 4.1% in August to 41,188 units. The total number of new home starts fell 9.4% to 70,399, according to data released by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism on Friday. From January to August 2023, housing starts in the country were 3.7% less than a year ago, amounting to 548,099 units.
