The LEAG Group acquires Wismar Pellets GmbH to expand the production and supply portfolio of its processing company. The company with a total of 110 employees, who will be taken over by the new owner, produces around 256,000 tons of high-quality wood pellets for the generation of green heat and green electricity in its main plant. In addition, Wismar Pellets GmbH has a stake in the biomass cogeneration plant of Bioenergie Wismar, as well as Best Pellets Handelsgemeinschaft GmbH and German Pellets Denmark Aps, which coordinates the group's Scandinavian business. The purchase is subject to the approval of the Federal Cartel Authority.

In the course of the past year, the LEAG Group had already acquired two pelleting plants from Propell GmbH in Oranienbaum and Löbau, as well as Holzkontor and Pelletierwerk Schwedt GmbH (HPS) in Brandenburg, Germany.

Wismar Pellets GmbH is certified with the PEFC seal (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) and the FSC seal (Forest Stewardship Council).
