Chofu Bio-Power LLC (CBP) and its five sponsors, which are Japan Petroleum Exploration Co., Ltd. (JAPEX), TOKYO ENERGY & SYSTEMS INC., MOT Research Institute, Ltd., CHOFU SEISAKUSHO CO., LTD., and KAWASAKI KINKAI KISEN KAISHA, LTD. announces that Chofu Biomass Power Plant promoted by CBP as the main business entity has started the commercial operation on December 30, 2024. The groundbreaking of biomass power plant was  in mid-2022.

The power plant is a biomass-only power plant with an output capacity of 74,950 kW that uses 100% wood pellets as its power generation fuel. The amount of power generation is approximately 520 GWh per year and all of them are sold to Chugoku Electric Power Transmission & Distribution Co., Inc., based on the Feed-in tariffs scheme (FIT) for renewable energy.
