British Columbia will implement 64 new projects that will remove nearly 11 thousand truckloads of flammable forest waste, as part of wildfire prevention and forest enhancement efforts. Backed by $19 million in provincial funding, these projects span all eight of B.C.’s natural resource regions.

Of the total projects, 31 are led by First Nations and another 14 involve First Nations partnerships, underscoring their role in forest management. These projects focus on recovering wood fibre that would otherwise be burned and aim to strengthen forest health while supporting local mills and energy producers.

The initiative is part of a broader $90 million 2025 provincial commitment to wildfire prevention, including treatments planned on over 11,700 hectares through the BC Wildfire Service and the Forest Enhancement Society of BC (FESBC).
