UPM Raflatac, a global leader in label materials production, announces the permanent closure of its Kaltenkirchen factory in Germany. The decision aims to enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness. A total of 154 positions will be affected as the closure unfolds in stages throughout 2025.

The label material production from the Kaltenkirchen facility will be transferred to factories in Poland and Finland, while graphics solutions production will move to Belgium. Operations in Kaltenkirchen will continue until the completion of the upgraded CM 3 coating line transfer.

Tim Kirchen, Executive Vice President of UPM Raflatac, emphasized the strategic goals behind the restructuring, stating, “The aim of these changes is to accelerate our growth in the Films and Graphics business by improving the overall profitability of our operations and maximizing synergies.” He added that centralizing production in cost-competitive factories will improve product quality and customer service.
