Setra Group AB is considering selling its sawmill in Malå, Sweden, during 2025, aiming to strengthen its operations in central Sweden. The company expects an improved raw material supply in that region, contributing to long-term growth opportunities. The structured sales process will take place in the first half of 2025, with Access Partners acting as the coordinating advisor, according to a press release from Setra Group AB on February 11, 2025.

Setra has recently completed significant upgrades to the Malå sawmill following a SEK 390 million ($45.9 million) investment approved by the Board in 2021. The modernization included a new log intake, a new saw line, an upgraded trim saw, and a new drying unit. This investment aimed to enhance production efficiency, increase product quality, and reduce the facility’s climate footprint.

The new saw line is currently being implemented, with full operational potential expected in 2027. By then, the sawmill’s capacity will expand from its current 160,000 m3 per year to 340,000 m3 per year. The modernization program has significantly improved precision and efficiency, aligning with Setra’s strategy to boost competitiveness and add value to its wood products.
