Setra inaugurates its new highly efficient saw line at the sawmill in Skinnskatteberg, Sweden. Here, scrap lumber from the forests in the immediate area will be turned into wood products that reach customers all over the world. The new saw line is the latest of Setra's large-scale investments in recent years.

“Skinnskatteberg's geographical position in the middle of an important raw material district plays a key role. With the new saw line, we will be able to use even more forest raw material from the local area and convert it at a higher speed into products that contribute with great climate benefit,” says Mikael Romlin, site manager for Setra Group in Skinnskatteberg.

The investment in Skinnskatteberg thus means that the entire log is used and processed more efficiently than before. The new saw has the capacity to handle one log per second, three times faster than before.

“In recent years, we have invested billions in new technology that sustainably increases the pace towards a bioeconomy, while at the same time strengthening Setra's competitiveness on the world market. Wood is the only renewable building material because it absorbs carbon dioxide and locks it in the form of carbon throughout its lifetime. Therefore, the investments we make are also an important part of the green transition in Swedish industry. We are proud of that,” concludes Marcus Westdahl, CEO of Setra Group.

Setra is one of Sweden’s largest wood industry companies.
