MiCROTEC Espoo and Iisveden Metsä Oy have signed an agreement on two new deliveries to the Iisvesi sawmill in Finland. The first delivery is for the Moistspy dry lumber moisture meter, slated for installation in late summer 2022. The second delivery is for Finscan T&B 6000 dry lumber quality scanner, replacing the old Boardmaster-HD quality scanner at the combi mill. The Finscan scanner will be installed and put into service in late summer 2023, and it eliminates the need to turn boards between measuring sections. The latest measuring technology also improves the detection of blue stain, rot and defects.

“For Iisveden Metsä Oy, upgrading the dry sorting system is part of our company’s long-term development programme designed to increase capacity and standardize the quality of customer deliveries in terms of moisture and grading. Furthermore, continuous moisture monitoring enables optimal adjustment of drying quality, energy consumption and drying capacity in dry kilns,” says Iisveden Metsä Oy’s Managing Director Tommy Lindström.

Iisveden Metsä Oy has a long history of using Finscan quality scanners. The first Boardmaster scanner was put into service in combined sorting in 2012, with Boardmaster-HD implemented in new green sorting in 2019. Iisveden Metsä Oy currently produces about 150,000 m3 of spruce lumber per year.
