Former CEO Mike Newnham has decided to step down when Saint-Gobain Building Distribution UK becomes part of Stark Group A/S. John Carter replaces Mike Newnham effective, 1 March 2023.
John Carter has been working in the building materials merchant and distribution business for more than 40 years. He has worked his way from management trainee to CEO of Travis Perkins plc. Since 2019, he has been working in management consulting.
When joining Stark Building Materials UK Ltd. as CEO, John Carter becomes a member of Stark Group’s Executive Committee (ExCom). The appointment of John Carter follows that Mike Newnham has decided to step down to consider a new career commitment.
Mike Newnham will stay with the company until later this spring to secure a proper handover.
Stark Group is a leading business-to-business distributor of heavy building materials for the construction industry in Europe, with a strategic focus on serving professional builders from its more than 1,150 branches.
