In February 2025, industrial roundwood purchases in Finland rose 4% compared to the same period in 2024 and surpassed the average for February over the previous five years by 15%, according to the Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). During the first two months of 2025, the total trade volume increased 12% from the previous year and exceeded the five-year average by 25%.

Standing sales prices for major roundwood assortments showed little change in February. Pine logs averaged Euro 80 per cubic meter, spruce logs averaged Euro 82, and birch logs remained at Euro 65. Compared to the previous year, pine log prices increased 4%, while spruce logs rose 3%, and birch logs showed no change.

In standing sales of pulpwood, the average price of spruce pulpwood rose slightly by 1% to nearly Euro 34, while pine and birch pulpwood prices remained stable at Euro 32. Compared to the previous year, pine and spruce pulpwood prices increased 4%, while birch pulpwood rose 3%.

In delivery sales of pulpwood, average prices remained steady for pine at Euro 53 per cubic meter. Spruce and birch pulpwood prices declined by 1% to Euro 53. Compared to the previous year, pine pulpwood prices rose 6%, while spruce increased 3%, and birch increased 5%.

Trade volumes showed significant growth. In January-February 2025, the total volume of industrial roundwood purchased from private forests increased 12% compared to the previous year and was 25% higher than the average for the past five years. During this period, log trade rose 28% above the five-year average, while pulpwood trade increased 15%.
