Industrial roundwood purchases in Finland increased by 20% in January compared to the same month last year, exceeding the five-year January average by 33%, according to Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke). Log trade rose by 38% and pulpwood trade by 24% compared to the five-year average.

In standing sales, the average price of pine logs remained at Euro 80.07 per cubic meter, while spruce logs dropped by 1% to Euro 82.18. Birch logs fell by 1% to Euro 65.32. Compared to 2024's average prices, spruce logs were 3% higher, and pine logs were up 4%. Birch logs remained unchanged.

Pulpwood prices in standing sales fell by 2% to 3% from December. Spruce pulpwood decreased by 2% to Euro 33.38, while pine pulpwood dropped by 2% to Euro 31.62. Birch pulpwood fell by 3% to Euro 31.82. However, compared to the 2024 average, prices were 2% to 4% higher.

In delivery sales, pulpwood prices remained close to Euro 53. Spruce pulpwood fell by 2% from December to Euro 53.15, while pine pulpwood remained at Euro 52.73. Birch pulpwood rose by 1% to Euro 53.17.
