In July, the area designated for notified logging in Sweden reached a total of 16,376 hectares, reflecting an 11% increase compared to the figures from July 2022, according to Swedish Forest Agency.
The applications seeking permits for final felling within montane forests accounted for 193 hectares of the total area in July. This figure, however, marked a decrease from the 234 hectares reported in the corresponding month last year.

The persistent growth in this sector becomes even more apparent when comparing the accumulated data for the period of January to July. Over this timeframe, the combined area for notified logging and permit applications totaled 140,768 hectares, showcasing a substantial 19% increase when compared to the same period in the prior year.
For the period January to July, the area of applications for the permits for final felling within montane forests have reached 9,725 hectares, a stark contrast to the 2,913 hectares reported during the corresponding period in the preceding year.
