Häfele breaks ground on massive Archdale, North Carolina warehouse expansion project. The additional 94,200 sq. ft. of high-rise distribution space will bring the existing highly automated facility to 221,200 sq. ft. in total, increasing overall storage capacity by 60%.
Paul K. Smith, President of Häfele America Co., said: “Through this project we’ll be able to serve all of our customers in a multitude of better, more efficient ways – as well as reducing the company’s carbon footprint by adding solar power to our campus.”
The expanded facility will include a 501 kW solar system consisting of over 1,100 panels. That investment alone is expected to provide approximately 75% of the total power use for the facility.
“The equipment and processes employed within our Archdale facility are about to receive a monumental upgrade,” said Jed Kilpatrick, Director of Operations for Häfele America Co. “In addition to increased storage capacity, we’ll be adding the latest automated conveyor lines and product pick systems which will improve responsiveness, efficiency and order accuracy.
The total investment in facility upgrades and expansion is $13 million. Construction on the project will commence immediately with an anticipated project completion date of fall 2022.
