UPM Fibres plans measures to increase efficiency and safeguard the profitability of its operations in Finland and starts change negotiations in its Fibres Finland Operations. The planned measures include the possible reduction of 110 positions.

The change negotiations cover approximately 1,600 employees in the UPM Pulp operations in Finland, UPM Forest and UPM Timber.

The change negotiations will also include possible temporary layoffs in the UPM Pulp operations in Finland and in UPM Timber. The possible temporary layoffs could take place according to the market situation, if and as needed, between 1 January 2025 and 30 June 2025. Any temporary layoffs could be implemented in stages and could last in total a maximum of 90 days.

UPM Fibres consists of UPM’s pulp and timber businesses as well as wood sourcing and forestry operations. UPM Pulp has three pulp mills in Finland and two pulp mills and plantation operations in Uruguay. UPM Timber operates four sawmills in Finland. UPM Forest secures competitive wood and biomass for the UPM businesses, manages UPM-owned and privately owned forests in Northern Europe and offers forestry services to forest owners and forest investors.
