Sydenhams acquire Snows Timber, Glastonbury

Sydenhams has acquired Snows Timber’s Glastonbury operation in Somerset, the UK. The 12-acre site began trading as Sydenhams on March 1, TTJ reported.

This acquisition brings Sydenhams up to 32 branches overall including its builders merchants, timber centres, tool and plant hire centres, kitchen & bathroom showrooms, as well as flooring and timber engineering sides of the business.

Snows’ association with Glastonbury goes back to the 1800s when it started as a small coal and wood merchant in Glastonbury.

Snows Timber streamlined its business last year with the closure of its Dudley Distribution Centre and an investment of GBP 500,000 into its Mansfield Distribution Centre, the latter of which increased the site’s stockholding and picking and milling capabilities.

Its restructuring programme also involved the centralisation of its regional sales offices (based at each distribution centre) into one national sales office at Towcester, Northamptonshire.
