Delivery purchase prices on Swedishroundwood increased during the 3Q 2021 after having been unchanged during the 2Q 2021. The sawlog price increased by 2.1% and the price of pulpwood by 0.9%, in comparison with the previous quarter. However, there are regional differences throughout the country, as Swedish Forest Agency reported.

Sawlog prices increased by 6.3% in the Northern region during the 3Q 2021. That is the first time in two years that prices have increased in the region. In the Central region the delivery purchase price of sawlogs also increased, by 3.5% while it was almost unchanged in the Southern region, a small increase of 0.5%.

Pulpwood prices increased also in the Northern region, by 3.2%, the first increase for a year in the region. The largest increase was in the Southern region by 3.8% while it decreased slightly by 0.5% in the Central region.

If focus is shifted to comparing with the same quarter last year, then the development differs.

The price of sawlogs increased by 13% in Sweden, that is the largest increase since the 3Q 2014. Regionally, the increase was 16.7% in the Southern region and 12.8% in the Central region and 3.5% in the Northern region.

Pulpwood prices overall decreased by 0.7%, a continuation of a trend of declining prices that has been ongoing for two years. The decline was greatest in the Northern region by 11%, while the price was almost unchanged with a slight decline of 0.3% in the Central region. Delivery purchase prices increased in the Southern region by 3.4%.
