Stocks of Sweden's softwood sawlogs, pulpwood and chips amounted to 8.5 million m3 on September 30, 2020. Both stocks of softwood sawlogs and pulpwood were lower than at the same time last year, according to The Swedish Forest Agency.
Stocks of softwood sawlogs amounted to 2.6 million m3, which is 9% less than last autumn, but an increase of nearly 300,000 m3 since last summer.
Stocks of pulpwood have declined since last summer, reaching 5 million m3. This is 10% less than last autumn, but it remains high compared to the same time in 2017 and 2018.
The largest decreases in stocks were in the south of the country. Stocks of softwood sawlogs were 21% lower and pulpwood stocks 28% lower than in autumn 2019.
By assortment, stocks of pulpwood consisted of 3.6 million m3 of softwood, 0.6 million m3 of spruce and 0.8 million m3 of hardwood. Compared to last autumn, stocks of softwood pulpwood and hardwood pulpwood have decreased by 13% and 8% respectively. By contrast, stocks of spruce pulpwood have increased by 6%.
Stocks of softwood pulpwood declined across the country. Stocks of spruce pulpwood increased in most of the country except in the far north.
The stock of chips was just under 1 million m3, or 10% higher than at the same time last year.
