In October, the industrial roundwood harvesting for industrial use reached 5.4 million m3, reflecting a 13% decrease compared to the same period last year, Natural Resources Institute Finland (Luke) reported. The total removal volume for January-October stood at just over 48 million m3.

Sawlogs and pulpwood accounted for equal shares of the industrial roundwood removals, each amounting to 2.7 million m3. Notably, compared to the average in October over the past five years, sawlog removals experienced a 7% decline, while pulpwood removals dropped by 15%.

Furthermore, industrial roundwood removals from non-industrial private forests recorded a significant decrease of 18% from the previous year, totaling 4.2 million m3. Meanwhile, felling volume in both forest industry companies' forests and state-owned forests saw a 10% reduction, reaching 1.2 million m3.

Energywood removals in October totaled 439,000 m3, with delimbed stems and whole trees comprising 56% of this volume.
