Canadian Forest Owners announces the appointment of Andrew de Vries as Chief Executive Officer of the national organization of private forest owners, effective February 1, 2024.

As leader of Canadian Forest Owners, de Vries brings with him over 30 years experience in natural resource management across Canada, the United States and internationally where he has developed expertise in sustainability and conservation biology, as well as community, Indigenous and government relations.

De Vries’s appointment marks the retirement of Canadian Forest Owners Executive Director Jean-Pierre Martel, who helped raise awareness about the importance of private forest land in Canada. Together, de Vries and Martel are working to ensure a smooth transition.

Canadian Forest Owners, based in Ottawa, Ontario, represents 450,000 forest landowners, large and small, who are committed to long-term sustainable forest management for a healthy climate and thriving communities.
