West Fraser reports 4Q 2019 sales of $1.129 billion, compared to $1.274 billion in the 4Q 2018. Adjusted EBITDA totalled $80 million or 7.1% of sales in the 4Q 2019, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
The company's lumber segment generated an operating loss of $23 million and Adjusted EBITDA of $69 million in the 4Q2019. Lumber shipments declined approximately 10% from the 3Q due to variable operating schedules, shift reductions, mill closures and holidays in the 4Q.
The company's panels segment generated operating earnings of $8 million and Adjusted EBITDA of $13 million in the 4Q 2019. Increased plywood volumes and lower costs were not able to fully offset lower plywood pricing, and reduced MDF and LVL volumes.
West Fraser is a diversified wood products company producing lumber, LVL, MDF, plywood, pulp, newsprint, wood chips, other residuals and energy with facilities in western Canada and the southern United States.
