U.S. containerboard production increased by 7% in April

U.S. containerboard production in April 2020 increased 7% compared to April 2019. It was up 7% when compared to the same four months of 2019, as the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) reported.

April 2020 production of containerboard for export increased 29% compared to the same month last year; it was up 41% year-to-date. The containerboard operating rate was 95.9%, up 5.2 points from April 2019 and up 5.6 points year-to-date.

Mill inventories of containerboard at the end of April decreased 19,000 short tons from the previous month, and were up 28,000 short tons compared to April 2019.
