In January 2022, the U.S. imports of plywood soared 30.3% year-on-year to 511.8 thousand m3. The value of imports jumped 50.8% to $348 million. According to Lesprom Analytics, average price of plywood soared 15.7% to $679.9 per m3.

Vietnam’s share amounted to 26.7% of the U.S. total plywood imports in January 2022. Vietnam is United States’ biggest plywood exporter with second-ranked Indonesia at 17.8% of total exports, while Brazil takes 13.5% and Russia 11.9%. 

In January, supplies from Vietnam jumped by 148.5% to 136.6 hous. m3, exports from Indonesia increased by 83.7% to 91.2 thous. m3, supplies from Brazil decreased by 5.4% to 69.2 thous. m3.

Russian exports of plywood to the U.S. jumped 58.1% year-on-year to 60.8 thousand m3. The value of exports from Russia soared 234.5% to $58.7 million. Average price of plywood jumped 111.6% to $964.3 per m3. The share of Birch plywood in Russian plywood supplies was 98%.
