B.C. planted more than 280 million trees in 2024, with the province celebrating 10 billion trees planted since 1930, according to Minister of Forests Ravi Parmar.

Efforts this year focused on fire-damaged areas, incorporating 13 native tree species to enhance ecosystem resilience and address climate change. Since 2017, over two billion trees have been planted under the province's initiatives, reaffirming its leadership in sustainable forestry.

B.C. Timber Sales (BCTS), a division of the Ministry of Forests, achieved a significant milestone with more than one billion trees planted since its founding in 2003. BCTS continues to bolster local economies by issuing approximately 40 tree-planting contracts annually to small businesses.

Western Forestry Contractors’ Association highlighted the "restoration economy," emphasizing ecosystem resilience as a cornerstone of modern forestry. These reforestation programs underscore the province's dedication to sustainable practices and climate adaptation.
