Canadian lumber production experienced a significant uptick in February 2024, reaching 4,352.4 thousand m3, as per the latest data from Statistics Canada. This marks an 8.9% increase from January 2024 and a 10.8% increase from February 2023. Observing the monthly trends, February 2024's output was the highest since March 2023, which recorded 4,785.3 thousand m3. Following the peak in March, production generally declined until a gradual recovery commenced in August 2023.
In terms of shipments, sawmills in Canada shipped 4,195.4 thousand cubic meters of lumber in February 2024, showing a 7.8% rise from the previous month and a notable 16.0% increase from the same month last year.
